What does it cost to run a team of AI agents for a small business?
On ESR.co the ongoing plans are $99, $199 and $499 a month, and each one includes a fixed monthly usage allowance rather than billing you per token. The number that matters more than the price is what happens when the allowance runs out. On ESR the work stops and asks. It does not keep running and bill you the difference.

There is also a Founding plan at $49 a month with 100% Power. It is a seat-capped launch invite rather than a rung of the ongoing ladder, so it is not a plan you can upgrade into later.

What “Power” is
Power is the usage allowance, expressed as a percentage rather than a dollar meter. The Launch plan is the 100% baseline, so Growth at 240% is 2.4 times that much work a month and Empire at 750% is 7.5 times. Plan Power resets on your billing date.
Three things that stop it becoming a surprise bill
- A hard spend stop. The allowance is a ceiling, not a threshold that triggers overage billing. It cannot be exceeded.
- A check before a big job starts, not during it. If a job’s conservative estimate is larger than the Power remaining, it is not allowed to begin. The reason is that a job which starts unfunded and dies halfway is the worst of both outcomes, so the block happens at the start and comes with the actual options: wait for the reset, upgrade, or top up.
- Top-ups that do not expire. Power you buy as a one-off is not swept by the monthly reset. It stays until you use it. The packs are $29 for 29%, $59 for 62%, $99 for 110%, $249 for 300%.
Upgrading always beats topping up
This is enforced by a test in the codebase rather than left to judgment. No top-up pack is allowed to give more Power per dollar than the cheapest step up the plan ladder. The best pack works out at 1.20% of Power per dollar. Moving from Launch to Growth buys 1.40% per dollar. If you are topping up every month, you are on the wrong plan and the pricing is built to make that obvious rather than to profit from it.
What the price does not include
It buys drafting and planning work, not delivery. ESR agents write the strategy, the marketing and the content. They do not send email, publish posts or run ad campaigns. If you are budgeting to replace a person, budget for the person who still presses send.
